It's 6 p.m. I am in Hanamikoji Street, a cobblestone road in Kyoto's historic Gion district. The spring evening air is crisp and the sky is an orange hue. Everyone is waiting for that magical moment. Crowds of camera-clutching tourists wait with bated breath. Then it happens. An apprentice geisha emerges from one of the "training homes." It's a rare sight and the elders say seeing a geisha will bring luck. I hope it brings me enough luck to finish their story. #reportage #Japan2016 #geisha #geiko
